On 29 August 2009, which is both the Miners Day and Donetsk City day, there was a tremendous opening ceremony of the Donbas Arena stadium, starring Beyoncé. But not only the stadium, but also the city itself should have been ready for Euro 2012.


By GIZ request and in cooperation with Donetsk municipal administration, we created Donetsk positioning and visual identity within the framework of Euro 2012 preliminaries. Donetsk is a city of contrasts and people who see life in no shades of gray. One can either love or hate the city. That’s why we created a mixed identity that brings together the softness of the Donetsk million roses with the staunchness of mines underground brought up to the surface since the end of 19th century.
